The Founders of the Pillars Development Group have assembled a team composed of professionals with recognized leadership in the fields of land acquisition and development, residential and commercial construction, sales and marketing, asset management, finance and accounting. These professionals represent a deeply experienced, yet nimble organization that work together as a unified team, enabling the company to capitalize on a changing real estate market.

Al-Husain Y. Al-Hussain – President

Mr. Al-Hussain has been actively involved in the homebuilding and development industry since 1981. For the five year period before co-founding Edgemoore Homes in 1992, Mr. Al-Hussain served as a managing partner of a New York Real Estate investment firm. Earlier in his career Mr. Al-Hussain worked as an architect on a variety of building projects in the Middle East. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Architecture from the Pratt Institute of New York.

Yahya M. Al-Hussain – President, International Division

Mr. Al-Hussain has been actively involved in the homebuilding and development industry since 1982. Prior to co-founding Edgemoore Homes, Mr. Al-Hussain served as a managing partner in a New York City real estate investment firm. With his engineering background with Weidlinger Associates Inc., he was involved in the design and rehabilitation of landmark bridges and buildings in New York including: the Manhattan Bridge, the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and the General Electric Building. Mr. Al-Hussain holds a Bachelor’s of Science and a Master’s of Science degree in Engineering and a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Urban Land Institute, Tau Beta Pie and Chi Epsilon, the National Honor Societies of Engineering and Civil Engineering..

Dr. Ahmed Y. Al-Hussein – Vice President

Dr. Ahmed was one of the founders of Pillars Development Group’s previous affiliate companies, and his primary responsibilities included land acquisition, legal contracting and investor relations. Dr. Ahmed managed much of the land acquisition, including the purchase of more than 2,000 acres of land in the Washington Metropolitan area, most of which has been engineered and resold as finished, “buildable” lots to a variety of homebuilders. Dr. Al-Hussein’s educational background is in medicine; he graduated from the University of Kiel (Germany) as a Medical Doctor where he also practiced pediatrics. Dr. Ahmed discontinued his medical career into 1995 and engaged in a partnership where he established a multi-branch business in Germany before he moved to the USA.

Mohammed Al-Motawakil – VP, Business Development

Mr. Al-Motawakil oversees all aspects of business development and strategic ventures, finance and capital structures, asset management, acquisition and disposition, organizational issues, international tax planning and setup, with a special emphasis on investor and banking relationships. Mr. Al-Motawakil is a graduate of George Washington University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with a dual concentration in Finance and International Business.

Jack Dyniec, CPA – Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Dyniec served as Chief Financial Officer of Edgemoore Homes since its inception in 1992, till 2009. He provides the overall direction of all accounting and financial matters pertaining to Pillars Development Group. Mr. Dyniec has developed strong relationships with lenders based on trust and integrity that have resulted in project financing, which has helped fuel the growth of past ventures. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Marwan Shahin – Operations Director

Mr. Shahin joined the company as Land Director in early 2007, with over 25 years of experience in both commercial and residential real estate in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and in the Middle East. Mr. Shahin is responsible for the day to day operations of the company, including all phases of all of Pillars Development Group projects including: planning, budgeting, engineering, land development, bond release and the delivery of finished lots to builders and end-users on-time and on-budget. From 2000 until 2007 he was Regional Director of Land Development for Toll Brothers. Mr. Shahin has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from George Washington University.
